Frequently Asked Questions

  • Q - Why should I purchase a Conqueror Door?

    • When you can have fully insulated Conqueror door that has exceptional insulation properties, is impact resistant, comes with powder coated hardware and all the other benefits associated with the Conqueror product; all for around the same price as standard single skin, uninsulated door that is easily dented and provides no insulation properties at all, is supplied with galvanised steel hardware, and rattles in the wind; the choice is obvious, why would you not? Start saving your family money today by installing a Conqueror insulated sectional door or insulated roller door. In the summer time, a conqueror door will keep the heat out, but during winter they will serve to keep the ever so needed and costly heat inside. It’s a win-win for your families security, energy costs and the environment. If your garage door is not insulated, it could quite conceivably be the biggest drain of energy from your home. Insulated doors will definitely reduce the amount of energy loss from your garage, simultaneously saving you real cash with your power account, and enable stable temperatures in all seasons. In addition, the conqueror range of doors offer considerable soundproofing ability. If you use noisy equipment in your garage, the conqueror door is ideal for sound insulation. This goes a long way towards helping your home meet and maintain its personal responsibility to reduce noise pollution and keep the neighbours happy. More importantly, external noise such as traffic, lawn mowers, the neighbourhood kids etc will be greatly reduced, possibly eliminated. Every Conqueror door is made up of a thick insulating core of high-grade polyurethane rigid foam 40mm thick, sandwiched between two layers of high quality steel. The external colour-steel face is finished in a very complementary Velvet (textured) finish in the required colour, whereas the internal face of every Conqueror door is as standard finished in a crisp white, thus harmonising with the internal finish of your garage, and the powder-coated tracks and hardware supplied also standard with every Conqueror Sectional Door. With a full bottom rubber weather-seal plus full perimeter extruded aluminium and silicon mohair strip, egress of external matter such as dust and leaves into the garage is removed while the door is closed. Our patented aluminium roller guide system ensures the door closes snug and firm against the door opening, and the special nylon inserts installed into each aluminium guide removes further operational noises by eliminating the metal-to-metal contact found in most other non-conqueror sectional garage doors. Every aspect of every Conqueror door is guaranteed to be the best. From the manufacturing methodology and design aesthetics through to its durability, the quietness of operation and its insulation properties, and the incomparable price compared to any other door on the market……Experience the difference, Conqueror, there simply is no other choice.

  • Q - Why would I want an insulated garage door?

    • A - There’s no better time to think about energy efficiency than when you’re building or renovating. It is when you can go back to the drawing board to really incorporate energy efficiency into your design. For little or no extra cost, you can create a home that’s warmer, more comfortable and more cost-effective to run for years to come – and you don’t have to compromise on style to do it. Designing for energy efficiency also means your home will use less of the world’s energy resources, so you’ll leave a better legacy for generations to come.

  • Q - What maintenance do I need to do on my conqueror door?

    • All garage doors are like cars, if you maintain and clean your car often the longer it will last – so when you clean your car, clean your garage door too. Doors can be washed with a mild detergent using a soft car brush. Doors that are not rain washed regularly need to be washed more often (1-2 months) to reduce the build-up of corrosive elements. Garage doors that are in close proximity to corrosive elements, such as coastal properties need to be washed at least once a month; a car wax can be used for added protection. Every 12-18 months we recommend that you a Conqueror service agent performs a service on your door and it's components. Silicon Spray is our best advice for lubrication of all hinges, tracks etc. Never apply grease to bearings, rollers or tracks on sectional doors.

  • Q - What is the difference between polyurethane and polystyrene (EPS)?

    • The Polyurethane we use is a superior substance; in that it is non-toxic, contains no CFC's, is internationally regulated to be Ozone friendly, fully biodegradable and provides a far greater insulation value then polystyrene or "EPS", expanded polystyrene. Polystyrene breaks down, contains chemicals, and can be carcinogenic. Polystyrene is made from petroleum, which is non-sustainable, non-renewable and is heavily polluting. The environmental impacts of polystyrene production in the categories of energy consumption, greenhouse gas effect and total environmental effect ranks second highest behind aluminium. Have a look at the link below which demonstrates clearly the difference between the Conqueror Polyurethane Panel and a panel from another manufacturer using EPS Polystyrene. http://youtu.be/ZE4XpqhMOBY (copy and paste this link into your browsers address bar)

  • Q - Is Polyurethane or Polystyrene (EPS) Fire Proof or Flammable?

    • Polyurthane is generally non combustible, meaning, it will not sustain a fire and will self extinguish. Any burnt area will most likely be left charred and carbon ash will have formed. In some cases, additives are added to provide a fire rating. Polystyrene or EPS however will not provide any security in a fire or extreme heat. It will break down and either melt away to a hard plastic resin, this usually happens if there is a retardant added to disapate flames, otherwise the Polystyrene will ignite and will only self extinguish if oxygen starved or the fuel is depleted. Examples of Polyurethane and Polystyrene under a controlled burn can be viewed at; http://youtu.be/IJ_VoZAAWBg (cut and paste this link into your website address bar.

  • Q - Why should I NOT purchase a door using EPS or Polystyrene?

    • Polystyrene fast facts; Polystyrene is made from petroleum, a non sustainable, non renewable, heavily polluting and fast disappearing commodity. The environmental impacts of polystyrene production in the categories of energy consumption, greenhouse gas effect and total environmental effect ranks second highest behind aluminum. (1) Polystyrene is a principle component of urban litter and marine debris. It is detrimental to wildlife that ingest it. In 2006, some 135 tones of polystyrene waste was disposed of at Hong Kong landfills every day ! (2) Polystyrene is not biodegradable. It takes several decades to hundreds of years for polystyrene to deteriorate in the environment or in landfills. Poly styrene takes up more space in landfills than paper and will eventually re- enter the environment when water or mechanical forces breach landfills. (3) Used Polystyrene foam food packaging is generally not accepted in plastics recycling bins in Hong Kong. Grease contamination renders Polystyrene non- recyclable.(4) Food service polystyrene packaging is not recycled because it is not economically viable to store, transport, degreaser and wash it before recycling. Schools in Hong Kong dispose of 30 million polystyrene lunch boxes every year and only an estimated 17% of the total is collected. In 2007, there was only one contracted collector! (4) Polystyrene contains the toxic substances Styrene and Benzene, suspected carcinogens and neurotoxins that are hazardous to humans. Polystyrene food containers leach the toxin Styrene when they come into contact with warm food or drink, alcohol, oils and acidic foods causing human contamination and posing a health risk to people. Over 100 US and Canadian, as well as some European and Asian cities, have banned Polystyrene food packaging as result of the negative impact to humans and the environment. • Q - How much should I expect to pay for a Conqueror door and Opener package with 2 Remotes

    • This will depend on what style and what size door you require; and possibly your location to the closest Conqueror agent. An indication of a package price could be the following; A fully insulated Modena Velvet (texture) Ironsand Sectional Door to suit an opening size of 2130mmH x 4800mmW with 300mm+ of headroom, complete with our DC Sectional Door Opener and 3 x Remotes - including GST, we would not expect you to pay more than $2,250. This may vary if there is additonal travel or other on-site requirements. In main centres, this however would be a very good indication.

  • Q - Will the paint on my garage door last?

    • Yes. All paint used on garage doors is industry standard pre-painted steel or Acrylic Enamel paint systems. As long as the door is regularly washed with warm soapy water, and no chemicals or other toxins come into contact with the door surface, the paint finish should last for many years. This may not be the case however in highly corrosive locations such as extreme Salt Spray Zones or ares of high geothermal activity.] The only area on the door you 'may' notice unusual marks is where panel rub occurs between the panels, under the finger proof lip of the panel, During operation of the door, you may notice slight paint wear or rub. This is usual on this type of door and will in no way affect the operation of the door. The warranty does not cover the panel rub seen on these joints, which are not noticeable when the door is closed. All manufactures world-wide experience this, witht he general response being that child or person safety being more important than unseen panel rub.
